FOCUS!!

Let’s Talk “717 South “

Location: This gem is located in the heart of South Tampa, precisely at 717 S. Howard Ave. There is plenty of parking in the back of the restaurant.

Service:  It’s time to celebrate a special person in my life. I was still determining what I would do for my husband’s birthday this year, so I reached out to a foodie-lover friend like myself. I made reservations for an early evening birthday dinner celebration with her recommendation. It seemed as if we were the only guests that walked into the restaurant beside the staff at first, but then again, the restaurant started serving at 5:00pm. We were greeted by our host and were seated right away. Initially, we were heading to a booth. However, they only had high chairs for our little one, so we opted for a table. Our server Anthony was terrific. His menu recommendations were on point and made the evening so special. Thank you, Anthony!!!

Food: Again, with Anthony’s recommendations, we started out with the cauliflower gratin (cast-iron cauliflower- farmer’s herb butter-garlic ruskses. Next, my husband ordered the pistachio-crusted rack of lamb-Rosemary mashed-demi glaze- Broccolini. Next, I ordered the Asian pot roast- Soy braised beef short rib- pineapple mango chutney- jasmine rice-cut bo-Choy. Finally, Anthony was so kind to have the chef put together some mac-n-cheese for the lil guy. The food had our palettes on a rollercoaster ride. The different flavors just made our taste buds go in different delightful directions. For dessert, we indulged in the apple cobbler topped with vanilla ice-cream. Totally, recommend 717 South.

Ambience: Funny, Inside this hidden gem, you will be encountered a modern style of decor. Outside seating and the inside space seem a little tight, but the decor and color scheme of teal, black, white, and greys made the room warm and inviting.

A Dash of Encouragement:: Focus on what is in front of you that makes you happy. Those words came to mind as I sat across from my husband and son. Lately, a lot has been going on in my world. I have been focusing on a million things all at once. Today, I was reminded to focus on what is in front of you: family. I plan on heeding those words, focusing on my relationship with God first and then with my hubby and son, and everything else will come after. Ask yourself, what are you focusing on? I am reminded of the scripture from the book of wisdom, Proverbs 4:25 “Let your eyes look straight ahead; fix your gaze directly before you.
