Let’s Talk “KPC”
Location: The Hilton Waikoloa Village on the Big Island of Hawaii.
Service: Service at the restaurant was wonderful. The vibe was “chill” yet professional. Our server was friendly and always made sure our glasses were topped off. They give you just enough time between check-ins to enjoy your time together and to take in the views.
Food: Let’s get to it! Beer and Wine Slow Braised Short Ribs with creamy cavatappi and cheese – sounds delicious doesn’t it? Unfortunately, all it did was sound delicious. I was not impressed; in fact, much to my disappointment, the idea of this dish was lost in translation. I was hoping that my husband had more luck with his choice: Kauai Prawn Penne Pasta. It sounded like a seafood mashup with a twist of the tropics. Although I think he seemed satisfied with his dish, I couldn’t help but see that he was just as underwhelmed as I was with mine. For the prices, I expected dishes that would be filled with Big Island flavors and frankly more memorable. Now mind you, this restaurant was listed on Open Table’s Diner Choice for 2020 on the Big Island. I just want you to know what you would be in for when it comes to the food.

Ambience: Kamuela Provision Company’s saving grace was none other than the beautiful setting. I highly recommend making a reservation for outdoor dining on the Ocean Front Lanai overlooking the Pacific Ocean with Kauai and Maui in the distance. Just know that they do serve a Chef’s Course if you do. The view essentially captured Hawaii to be what many call it, a romantic paradise island! The sound of the ocean washing ashore was calming music to my ears. The sunset was breathtaking. All I can say is if you are looking for a romantic setting, this is the spot! The ambiance will definitely set the mood.
Price: $$$$
A Dash of Encouragement: Have you asked yourself “Will my dreams ever come true? I know I have asked this question more times than I can count in my life time. I had seen so many beautiful pictures and movies about the sunsets in Hawaii and didn’t think I would see it in person. It became a desire of mine. It took some planning, but here I was sitting on that patio at KPC, overlooking the Pacific Ocean, with my most favorite person. In that moment I remember thinking of the scripture that says, “Take delight in the Lord, and he will give you the desires of your heart (Psalms 37:4). The Lord paved the way for this dream to come true for us and we are forever grateful for the experience. Set your goal, put a plan in motion, and most of all, open your heart to the possibilities. Never give up dreaming!
