Let’s Talk “Soho”

Location: SoHo is located in Atlanta, Georgia (The Vinings neighborhood area of Atlanta)

Service: While visiting family in Atlanta, Georgia, our cousin spoke highly of SoHo American Bistro and made reservations for dinner. Like always, she recommends making reservations. We did an early dinner, as we approached the entrance to the restaurant, we saw a sign with the evenings dinner special.. read it and got excited. We were seated right away after we checked in with the host. Our server Cole was super friendly and made sure we were well taken care of during the dining experience at SoHo. He was quite verse with the menu and answered all our questions about the menu. If you are planning to visit Atlanta, Georgia be sure to checkout the historic Vinings neighborhood area of Atlanta.

Food: I sat there wondering why was the restaurant named Soho, but I never got around to asking why as we were extremely hungry. For starters we ordered the SoHo Mussels garnished with tomatoes, garlic, shallots and the Tempura Calamari that was topped with a ginger & soy glaze, diced peppers, and sesame seeds. I was so hungry that my family gave me permission  to have the last bite of the calamari, this dish was a compliment to my taste buds. We ordered our meals after asking several questions about the menu, Cole was a huge help in guiding us through the menu. My dish was the Burgundy braised short Rib that came on top of the creamed corn, sautéed Kale, Soho Steak Sauce. In my opinion the short rib was very tasty and the creamed corn and soho steak sauce complimented it well, while the kale was very chewy. My cousin ordered the crab cake meal topped off with Mango & Napa Slaw with the Key Lime Dijon Aioli, her dish looked so inviting to sample, but didn’t get around to it as she felt our food was served cold, which was a bit disappointing. My husband on the other hand had the day’s special that was advertised on the black board at the entrance of the restaurant which was the Blackened Halibut paired with Wild Rice Pilaf with Cranberries & Cashew, Grilled Asparagus topped with the Black Bean Grilled Pineapple Salsa and Lemon butter. The dinner ended with  two selections of delicious desserts one of them being my favorite “creme brulée” and my husband got the strawberry covered cheesecake, delish!!

Ambience: Ever think of going to the Cape Cod, a hook-shape peninsula of the U.S state of Massachusetts or the Hamptons, part of the East End of Long Island? The location of this restaurant reminds of exactly these , being in a small town by the beach. The restaurant offers inside and outside dining, which is always a plus to give guests.  Of course, we chose the inside as my husband prefers the indoors. Not to concern myself as I know one day I’ll get him to sit on the outside 😊.  The entrance of the restaurant was so inviting as it’s located in the neighborhood of the in a little shopping village.. I can imagine myself visiting this little shopping village during the Christmas season. The architecture and decor of the restaurant is beautifully decorated with the whites, light blues, beiges, and browns theme paintings that so quaint  and Hampton style. Overall, Soho was one of the highlights of our trip, especially sharing the experience with family. (Thanks cousin Charlotte)

A Dash of Encouragement: Soho, early in the post I said I wonder why this restaurant was called Soho, but never had the opportunity to ask right. Well, I did just that forgot about the why. I began to focus on the moment and the people at the dinner table. I was reminded to live in the moment and enjoy the people around me. As I zoned in on the conversation, I listened in as the cousins shared their childhood memories and their future desires. This trip and this moment gave me new perspective of what I really would like to accomplish for myself and my family.  Currently, where I am in life, where I came from as a child, but most significant is where I would like to be as an individual in the coming years brought new hope and desires. The Webster dictionary defines perspective as “a particular attitude toward or a way of regarding something; a point of view”. I’ve heard a statement a dear friend of our family always says, he says…”Your attitude determines your altitude” Wow, powerful isn’t it. So, how is our attitude right now? Do you desire new perspectives? I dare us to take some time and do an attitude check…I dare us to live in the moment while developing new perspectives for our lives!
